Please give your thoughts on these two machines. I will be using for loader work and 60" mid mount deck. Currently the prices are with in $500 of each other.

I have a JD4100 with a 54" deck and my neighbor has the same tractor with the 410 loader. We both are very happy with our tractors and feel like it is one of the best in this size class. The mower on the 4100 is very easy to install and remove and the hydraulics on the 4100-410 loader combo is very impressive for this size of tractor. Still, I also have great respect and for the Kubota line of products and I also looked at a B2400. I really like this size of unit for my purposes (maintaining my own property). I considered both tractors and also the NH TC21. My buying decision was helped along due to the fact that the JD dealer was closer and more helpful and JD was having a sales promotion at that time and the 4100 was considerably cheaper than the other brands. I don't think you'd be unhappy with either one. BUT, JD has really put a lot of ease of use features on the 4100 that I don't think you will find on the other brands. Compare features, dealers, and cost. Good luck. ....

I have a 4100 and also a larger Kubota L4310. I do like the 4100 (and it is made in Japan, not having the problems of the others of the 4000 series). I is maybe a bit underpowered if you really want to do heavy work but the others would be too heavy and too big to cut the grass around my land (narrow areas). I think the John Deere have some nicer features. I still like the two pedals for forward and reverse and something incredibly simple like a stop for the three point hitch that you can override to go lower if you want. In order to do this on the Kubota, you have to unscrew it and move the stop! Of course the Kubota is a great machine and I think has a better mower deck (mine broke once already in two places). My dealer seems to think the Kubota has fewer problems (he sells both). Ergonomics is important as is the dealer. All are good machines. ....

I have B2400 with 200 hours on it. I was in your position a year ago before deciding on the Kubota. Both are excellent machines. At the time I was looking there was a 3 month delivery on the 4100. I couldn't wait that long and I preferred the Kubota dealer anyway. Both machines are very similar but the B2410 has a couple of extra HP for approximately the same weight. The extra HP is always useful. Also JD didn't make a backhoe for the 4100 but I believe aftermarket manufactures do. The 4100 seems to be free from some of the woes that plague the other 4000 series machines. The Kubota is a great little machine and I have had no problems with it other than a leaking hydraulic hose. You just crank it up and go to work. The FEL comes on and off in under 2 minutes - very easy, no tools - just like the Deere. The ergonomics are different on the 2 machines. The Kubota has the brake and hydro pedals on the same side which I thought might be a problem but it hasn't proved to be. All in all, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Pick the one that fits you best and you feel the most comfortable on. Don't forget the dealer though, he'll be an important person in your life. There is nothing that can sour you on a machine faster than a dealer who is totally unhelpful and some of them can be. All things being equal, I'd chose the Kubota again mainly for the extra HP and the dealer but if I had one close to me I'd look at the new boomers as well. ....
